Walter Stanley Goodwin (Stan) has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 32 years in his boyhood hometown, Maysville Missouri. It was on the family farm just outside of Maysville where he developed an interest in animal health. After graduating high school in 1972, Stan left Maysville to pursue his dream at the University of Missouri.
In 1978, Stan graduated with a doctorate of veterinary medicine. He moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma and became the third veterinarian in a thriving practice. As a new vet he learned how to talk to owners and he gained valuable hands on experience. In 1979, the Maysville Clinic became available for sale; Stan returned home and purchased the practice. During Dr. Goodwin’s career, he has supplied quality health care for livestock and pets to DeKalb County residents.
Dr. Goodwin believes in his profession and regularly attends continuing education instruction and workshops. The vet also encourages questions and job shadowing opportunities to interested and veterinary school bound students. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), and the Society for Theriogenolgy.
